Ivy's Rating - Excellent

As the title suggested, this book collects artwork by manga creator Ichijo Yukari spanning from 1968 to 1998. The book has 140 pages total. 124 of which are filled with colored illustrations while the remaining monotone pages include an interview with the artist and thumbnail indexes.

The color pages are divided into 5 periods, ranging from 1968-1971, 1971-1974, 1975-1980, 1981-1993, and 1993-1998. The illustrations are mainly full-page spread, although is a significant amount of pages with more than one illustrations. There is also a double sided color poster for Ichijo Yukari's Yuukan Club. The 5 sample images below are presented respective to the 5 periods.

My favorite pieces are from Ichijo Yukari's early years, especially sample #3. I love the color and the serious mood these characters are in. I don't like period 4 and 5. Period 4 illustrations, mainly from her manga Yuukan Club, appear rather "washed-out" and the characters are in silly poses most of the time. (There is no sample scan for Yuukan Club artwork since I will be reviewing another Ichijo Yukari's artbook dedicated to that series.)

Overall, this is a great artbook, despite the rather steep price tag. This is a must buy if you are a big fan of Ichijo Yukari or old school manga, like me =]
