I bought this on a whim as the guy on the cover has semi-long nails, which reminded me of Skadei Tor from Seung Won Han's Princess. However, this book had exceeded my expectation. Everything in this book is beautifully designed. The dust jacket seems to be coated with a layer of lacquer to make certain areas "shine." The specks on the cover art are actually pieces of glitter. My scanner was unable to scan that properly. Layout elements are clean. Even the way the page is numbered is elegant. As for the artwork, the first few pages blow me away. I was in awe for a while. However, only 1/5 of this book is in full color. The rest are monotone artwork, mostly clean pen stroke that aren't as good as the color ones in my opinion. 90% of this book contains male illustrations that are shonen-ai suggested. There are a few girls here and there but that was it. One of the things that irk me after flipping through the book was the male's facial feature. The nose is too large and the face shape is too rectangular at some point. There is nothing else I can say about this book except how much I like it. Wei Liu's color illustrations are simply fantastic. I would love to own more work from this artist. Note: Artist and title translation might not be completely accurate. |
